SUPPORT FOR JOBSEEKERS

About ten CDG jobseekers in a training roomWork Choice supports people in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight who need help in getting a job or retaining their current position.

CDG provides individual support to help these jobseekers achieve their aspirations by offering practical support to overcome or remove the barriers faced by those with a health condition or disability.

Every CDG jobseeker will have access to the following:

CDG’s employment support teams
Each jobseeker will be assigned an employment support team (EST) comprising a personal advisor, employment coach and a community volunteer or workplace mentor.

Each member of CDG’s team is experienced at helping people with health conditions and disabilities get back into work, and can provide additional support while people are in work by tailoring a support package to meet their specific needs when facing barriers because of the affects of those conditions or disabilities.

Comprehensive job search support
CDG supports people with training, support and guidance to provide the skills to find the right jobs for its jobseekers. We work with them on a one-to-one basis to explore job opportunities, training routes and the support they may need in overcoming any anxieties and fears associated with their return to the workplace.

We also assist jobseekers in:

• developing a CV that promotes their abilities and skills
• completing job application forms effectively
• jobsearch advice
• preparing for interviews, and
• giving them support in conveying their health condition or disability to a prospective employer in a positive manner.

CDG has copies of local and national job newspapers and the latest job posts from online recruitment sites as well as vacancies sourced through our specialist team of recruiters.

IT suites and technology
Our four centres are fully equipped with PCs, colour printers, fax machines and internet access.

Flexible access
CDG centres are open between Monday and Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, 52 weeks a year.

Work placements and work experience
Not only will you gain valuable ‘on the job’ experience: placements and work experience opportunities can often lead to offers of full time employment.

By attending a work placement, it will help you to identify your strengths, abilities or limitations on working hours due to the affects of a health condition or disability.

Once you find employment, CDG will continue to provide you with the support you need at work by carefully planning your development and by providing access to a personal job coach to support you in the workplace, if required when initially starting work.

We will support you in claiming any additional benefits that you may be entitled to and also to assist you in notifying the relevant benefits agencies in closing down any current claims.
