ISLE OF WIGHT JOB FAIR TO BRING EMPLOYERS, TRAINING PROVIDERS AND JOBSEEKERS TOGETHER

Date and time: Wednesday 15 February 2012 (10am to 6pm)
Address: Riverside Centre, The Quay, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2QR

In association with Isle Work, the welfare to work charity, Careers Development Group (CDG), is holding a job fair at Newport’s Riverside Centre next month to help employers find the people they need and help jobseekers get back into work. There is no cost to employers wanting to attend the event.

At the job fair, those looking for a job on the Island can bring along their CV and chat with a range of employers and training providers and they will also be able to apply for any vacancies employers may have immediately available.

Employers and providers are encouraged to attend to advertise any vacancies and showcase the current and future employment and training opportunities they offer. Those organisations who already signed up to attend include - Fawley Nursery Training Centre, HTP training, Isle of Wight Council, JobCentre Plus, Smart Training and Recruitment and the Military Preparation College.

Claire Howarth, CDG's employer relationship manager on the Isle of Wight, said “The charity’s first job fair of the year brings together in one place those looking for work, those with training opportunities and those looking to recruit the people they need.

“We are encouraging employers and training providers to contact us if they want to be part of this free event and all local jobseekers need to do is turn up with their CV.”

The charity is delivering the government's flagship back to work scheme, the Work Programme, as a delivery partner to MAXIMUS Employment & Training.

CDG has a centre in Newport and has helped people on the Island find and stay in work since 2005. The charity currently works with 30 local employers and for many it provides the main route for them in recruiting new staff. As well as a tailored recruitment service with the sole aim of bringing local employers and job candidates together, CDG also provide on-going support once people have started work.

Employers and training providers interested in attending the job fair should contact, Claire Howarth by email at claire.howarth@cdguk.org or 01983 821610.
