CDG helped over 2700 people from Southampton, Eastleigh and the New Forest on their journey back into work during 2010, latest figures from the welfare to work charity have revealed.

The charity has been helping people back into work in Southampton since 2005 and from its centre in Salisbury Street it runs a wide range of back-to-work support programmes for people of all ages, including those with disabilities.

Its employer engagement team works with a number of local businesses to support their recruitment needs, thereby bringing together people looking for work and employers with vacancies to fill. Local employers include The Co-Op, De Vere Hotels, Wheatsheaf Trust, Jewson, Unipart, Groundwork Solent, PJH and Poundland.

Lesley Smith, CDG’s Southampton business manager, said: “Last year’s figures show the level of tailored back-to-work support we are giving people in Southampton to help them on their journey back into employment.

“Working with local employers is a crucial part of the work we undertake as we can help meet their recruitment needs and support local people wanting to work at the same time.”

Local employers wanting to find out how Careers Development Group can help them meet their recruitment needs should contact either Lesley Smith or Lauren Fletcher on 02380 237684.
