Update on Careers Development Group and Shaw Trust

Careers Development Group (CDG) and Shaw Trust have announced that merger talks between the two will continue after an independent feasibility study concluded there was a ‘compelling case’ for the charities to join together. The feasibility study, conducted by KPMG, was commissioned following talks between CDG and Shaw Trust earlier this year. CDG welcomes launch of Youth Contract to alleviate youth unemployment

Careers Development Group has welcomed the launch of the goverment's new Youth Contract, which is being rolled out today to tackle worklessness in the 18-24 age group. All of CDG's centres except Brixton are back to being fully operational and will close at normal today at 5pm. The Brixton centre remains closed and access has still not been granted to it by the police. We have moved into a temporary centre at Bon Marche Centre Unit 210, 241-251 Ferndale Road, Brixton, SW9 8BJ. Following the disturbances in various parts of the UK over the past few days, Careers Development Group (CDG) has taken the decision to close all of its London centres at 3pm on Tuesday 9 August.
