Careers Development Group (CDG) has won the Tomorrow’s People “Community Partner of the Year” award for helping the long-term unemployed on their own path back to work.
National employment charity Tomorrow’s People’s Annual Awards for Achievement, which were held on 15 November at PwC’s new 7 More London office at London Bridge, paid tribute to people who have overcome significant barriers in their quest to get into work.
CDG has been working alongside Tomorrow’s People since 1997 when the two charities began working together in the Hastings area under the government’s New Deal Initiative.
This year, CDG’s chief executive, Roy O’ Shaughnessy, supported Tomorrow’s People in negotiations to become part of CDG’s supply chain in the government’s new Work Programme. The partnership between Tomorrow’s People and CDG will support an estimated 2,800 unemployed people in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham as well as raising an estimated £3.5million to assist in delivering the mission.
Tomorrow’s People welfare to work director, Steve Swan says; “CDG is a deserving winner - they have been a valued partner over a number of years, helping Tomorrow's People to deliver its mission through a variety of support including the sharing of expertise and advice for which we are extremely grateful.”
