As a registered charity CDG gladly accepts donations to help continue the excellent service we provide. more
CDG has proposed that the sector develop a professional/volunteer hybrid model, with businesses and the welfare to work sector collaborating to identify and utilise skilled volunteers to provide additional support to jobseekers.
CDG held a summit at Central Hall, Westminster, where key players in the sector - including charities, welfare to work organisations, employer representatives and the government - came together to agree a policy of tapping into skilled volunteers across the UK to garner unexploited expertise and provide additional public benefit.
Read CDG's position paper: 'Tapping into the Potential of Expert Volunteers: A Vision for the Future of Welfare to Work'.
Following the summit, a national steering group was established to oversee the initiative. The former chair of Volunteering England, Dr Mike Nussbaum, is chairing the steering group, and CDG is providing secretariat support.
The steering group has overall responsibility for developing a framework for the Expert Volunteer Initiative and is currently producing a framework document.
Areas and organisations to pilot the framework are in the process of being established. If you are interested in being involved, please contact CDG at volunteers@cdguk.org.
