WHAT TO EXPECT AS A VOLUNTEER

A jobseeker with a member of CDG staffCDG has dedicated staff at local and national levels to provide full support to our volunteers and ensure that CDG Volunteers remains a professional and effective volunteer service at all times.

We work closely with the national steering group, which is developing a nationwide framework for volunteering in the welfare to work sector.

As a volunteer with CDG you can expect to be:

• linked to a CDG centre near your place of home or work
• supported by a dedicated local volunteer coordinator
• made to feel one of the team and welcomed by staff and jobseekers alike
• appreciated for the support you provide and skills you have to share
• offered a time to volunteer that suits your lifestyle, and
• supported to develop your own skills.

Individuals interested in volunteering with CDG will be required to submit a CV and a short statement outlining their reasons for applying. Our local staff will then meet with you to discuss your application, expectations and to explain more about the organisation.

In order to safeguard our jobseekers, we will also need to seek written references and conduct an enhanced CRB check.

All volunteers are offered a complete induction programme and training relevant to the support you will be providing to jobseekers. Training is backed up by access to CDG’s e-learning courses and volunteers will receive individually tailored supervision and support on an ongoing basis.
