As a registered charity CDG gladly accepts donations to help continue the excellent service we provide. more
Volunteers provide people who are long term unemployed with the benefit of their skills and experience, achieved during their own careers, plus the time and resource to be to be able to do this.
CDG offers support that is tailored to the individual needs of our jobseekers and the range of knowledge that our volunteers bring is particularly valuable.
CDG volunteers support jobseekers in a variety of ways, both before employment - to help jobseekers on their journey towards employment - and once they have a job to help sustain this.
Examples of activities our volunteers undertake include:
• providing extra support in the job hunting process, such as industry-specific CV guidance and conducting mock interviews
• offering specialist information and coaching sessions about particular jobs and industries
• focused additional help for jobseekers with low IT levels
• providing practical advice based upon their own career experiences
• coaching
• providing moral support, and
• helping to build someone’s confidence in the workplace.
This list is not exhaustive and we’re always interested to hear from potential volunteers about skills they’d like to share with jobseekers.
Whether you’re a retired teacher who wants to help support those with basic literacy or numeracy levels, an HR professional wanting to help build confidence in those who have been unemployed for more than a year, or a tradesman who wants to help young people understand the ropes, as a CDG Volunteer you will make a real difference to people's futures.
We are also interested in hearing from employers who are interested in getting involved as part of their corporate social respsonsibility agenda.
