Peter is a director of Intellect, the UK trade association representing 750 member companies in the information technology, telecommunications and electronics sector. Since April 2008 he is also the chair of its Operations Board.
He is an independent non-executive director of Scytl, a Barcelona based software company that is a worldwide leader in the development of secure solutions for electoral modernisation. Scytl's customers in the private and public sectors represent leading references in the electoral modernisation market and include governments in Spain, the USA, France, Austria, Switzerland, the Philippines, Argentina, Mexico, Finland and Australia.
Peter is a non-executive member of the Insolvency Service Executive Agency Board - the agency which administers and investigates the affairs of bankrupts, companies and partnerships wound up by the Courts.
His is also a director of Votetub, a dotcom start-up aimed at creating greater political engagement with individuals in the 18-35 age groups.
Peter joined Accenture in 1996. Prior to this, he was the managing director of UK Systems for Sema Group Plc (now Atos Origin) and a board member of their outsourcing business. At Sema, Peter worked extensively across the UK public sector where, for many years, he was the director responsible for the company's business with the Home Office and the Department of Social Security (now the Department for Work and Pensions).
Peter retired from Accenture in 2008 after a career in the IT services and management consulting sectors spanning thirty five years. Prior to his retirement he was the managing director of the EALA (Europe, Africa & Latin America) Public Services Operating Unit. The unit, one of 15 global units across Accenture, helps public sector organisations achieve high performances by delivering improved services to citizens and business whilst containing costs. It employs in excess of 5,000 staff based in over twenty different countries.
With the Department of Social Security he was responsible for the development and implementation of systems for National Unemployment Benefits, Social Grants and National Insurance.
